RANDOM THOUGHTS FROM AN ENDORPHIN SOAKED MIND
Long Minnesota Winters And Marathons
I try to find the good in everything, I can't help it. I'm a glass half full kind of guy. With that in mind I am going to try to cheer up your winter doldrums. Think of this doozy of a winter as the ultimate mental marathon training. You know that point in the marathon, about 20 miles in, all of the sudden your mind starts to drift to "This sucks" Where the heck is that finish line?
Well, the winter of 2104 is exactly like a marathon.
* This fall; after a few miles. "Hey, that cool weather feels good after a hot summer"
*Then came Christmas, about 10 miles in. "Look at that beautiful snow. I wish it would snow more"
*About mid January. The half marathon point. "Ah, a little cold weather, we can deal with it
*End of January. About 15 miles in. "This sucks, but February is only 28 days, right?
*And now we are at the end of February- beginning of March, 20 miles, "THE WALL". "OMG! Is this winter ever going to end?"
Fret not my friends. That finish line is almost in sight. The sun is ever climbing higher in the sky, and a Polar Vortex is no match for a Vernal equinox. There will be plenty of days for long runs in the spring sun. And it will feel all that much sweeter after the winter of 2014
