Random Thoughts From An Endorphin Soaked mind. "Embrace Your Pace"

Random Thoughts From An Endorphin Soaked mind.

"Embrace Your Pace"

We are a few races into the season now. The dirty ol' snow will soon be nothing more than a distant memory. Our complaints about the cold will soon be replaced with " Can you believe this heat?"

One of the things I really enjoy is meeting those people with giant grins on their faces saying "I just ran my first 5k."

Most of us with Oh, maybe a few hundred races under our belts, forget just how much guts it takes to fill out a registration, and step up to the starting line.

I've talked to a ton of people that say "I run to stay in shape, but I'm too slow to race."

Wrong! Running in a race can be a very rewarding feeling. If your are running your first race, take it easy. Don't leave the aerobic phase. You should be able to carry on a conversation the whole time.Feel free to take a walk break if you are getting out of breath. Don't worry, its perfectly acceptable. Save your sprint for the finish line. Only when you have a few races under your belt should you push the pace a little, you'll know when you are ready. Start slow and savor the PR's (personal records) you will rack up.

Everybody that crosses that finish line is a winner. Sign up for a race in the near future. Once you do you will enter a whole new world. Look forward to that nervous energy that surges through your body as you step to the starting line.

You are only racing against yourself.

"Embrace Your Pace!"
