Rick was born and raised in Tomah, Wisconsin. He studied Electrical & Computer Engineering receiving his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his Master's Degree at the University of Minnesota. Rick was hired by IBM in Rochester in June 1981 and has worked there to the present day (38+years).
Rick was late in developing an interest in running. After watching his daughter Tricia run her first marathon in May 2014, it encouraged him to sign up and "train" for a 5k. The sole goal was to complete the 5k. He did and decided to sign up for the Rochester Track Club's Marathon training class in the Spring of 2015 (thanks Lin Gentling!). Since then, Rick has become a year-round runner. He has completed 9 full marathons and 16 half marathons to date.
Rick is an active member of the Rochester Track Club, running club events and participating in the Saturday and Sunday group runs. As an RTC board member Rick would like to help the club grow and expand its reach in the running community.
