Temperatures in the mid 30's and winds gusting to 30 mph greeted runners as they gathered for the Tour de Essex trail run on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Sunny skies took off a bit of the edge as the runners started their 7.45 K sojourn through Essex Park in Rochester.
Three runners bounded up and down the relentless hills under a 7 minutes per mile pace. Joey Keillor led all runners in a 6:16 min/mile pace with Danny Whipple cranking out 6:26 minute miles and Spencer Moul finishing with 6:34 min/mile pace.
Barbara Swenson finished first among women and 5th overall with a 7:17 min/mile pace. Barbara's pace is the fastest pace among women in the history of the Tour de Essex. The next women across were Lindsey Carlson with a 7:42 min/mile pace and Leah Karsten at 8:31 min/mile.
Congratulations to all of the runners who came out and endured the challenging hills of the Tour de Essex!
