Although this class is aimed at first time marathoners/half marathoners/10K/5K runners and runners who haven't run for several years or who didn't have the type of experience they had hoped for in a previous races, we welcome anyone who might be interested in training for a spring event: Med City (Rochester), Green Bay Marathon, Grandma's, Voyageur (WI), Fargo, Brookings (ND), LaCrosse (WI), Eau Claire (WI), Lake Wobegon (MN) Marathon, etc. or for a half marathon/10K/5K, many of which are part of a marathon event as well.

The emphasis will be on first time half/full marathoners, 10K, 5K runners, or those who have not run an event for sometime, and whose primary objective is to finish their event of choice, training up to 32-45 (marathoner) or 20-33 (half marathoner) miles per week. Every week (Tuesday) there will be a one hour session where a speaker will address such topics as nutrition, fluid replacement, preventing and coping with injuries, running shoes and clothing, plotting race strategies, foam rolling and stretching, mental preparation, a panel on "my first race", tapering and preparing for race day, and memories.

Longer runs will be programmed into the course with other short to mid-distance runs. The long runs will be offered as a group activity, at your own pace, and will start and end at the Rochester Athletic Club.

The fee for the course will be $55.00. This will include a clothing item, plaque, guest speakers, and a CD of handouts given to the participants during the three-month course. Participants DO NOT have to have membership in the Rochester Track Club.
