The race was delayed for a few minutes due to the storm, but a 2nd storm rolled in 25 minutes later, more quickly than expected. All but 13 runners beat the storm and torrential downpour. Thank you to the vigilant volunteers!
Rain during the Tour de Essex created slick conditions for the runners traversing the hills of the 7K course in Essex Park. Noah Billings finished first in an 8:01 mile pace with Kris Nelson leading the women in 8:54 minute miles.
After being postponed due to rain/storms on September 12th, the weather for the 33rd edition of the 5K Mayo Open cross country race was warm but sunny. Run after the High School Invitational, there were 20 participants, which ties the second lowest turnout (lowest was 19 in 1998).
The Douglas Trail runners had nice conditions for an early August sojourn up and down the trail from the Douglas trailhead. Zach Fogarty led the runners across the finish line in 1:05:47 with Madison Overby the first woman in 1:15:06.
Runners frolicked through fluffy snowflakes as they made their out-and-back trek from Soldiers Field to Pinewood school on the bike trail at the RTC Spring Classic races. Brad Wobig led the 5K runners in 22:03 with Brooke Jasper finishing first among women in 30:52. The 15K race was won by Zach Fogarty in 56:09 with Anna Sanchez breaking the tape for the women in 1:14:12.
